Independent Booksellers’ Week is a campaign that will be held from 28th of June to 5th of July 2014 in the United Kingdom (UK) and Ireland. It aims to (i) encourage shopping at independent book stores, (ii) discover great books and (iii) cultivate strong reading habits in communities.
There are a lot of activities planned for the week such as reading groups, storytelling, author signings, literary lunches and face painting. One activity that excites me is the bookshop crawl. It is a competition for bloggers, vloggers and booktubers, in which one winner will gain book tokens, the IBW Book Prize shortlist and bragging rights in the form of a digital banner for their blog and social media channels. All they have to do is to
(i) visit as many book stores as they could on 5th of July 2014
(ii) share their selfies with custom-made stickers and hashtag #bookshopcrawl on Twitter, Instagram, blogs and/or video channels by 11:59 pm on 6th of July
(iii) email the link(s) to firstname.lastname@example.org.
I wish I could participate in the bookshop crawl because it would be an exciting challenge to get all things done in a limited amount of time. Despite my geographical limitation, I cannot wait to see the entries for this event.
If you would like to support the event, look for the hashtag #bookshopcrawl on IndieBound UK Twitter, IndieBound UK Tumblr, IndieBound UK Instagram, Books Are My Bag Twitter and/or The Booksellers Association Twitter.
